Butterfly Wedding Stationery Design

The Brief

To create a set of butterfly wedding stationery designs, featuring butterflies and incorporating the colour purple.

Butterflies are said to bring good luck and happiness in the life of the newlywed couple. The colour purple also carries it’s own meanings; light purples are associated with light-hearted, romantic energies, and can represent love, support, close bonds, and admiration.

These meanings are perfect for wedding stationery designs.

The Solution

Butterfly Wedding Invitation Design

The wedding invites were designed to be an A6 booklet and required a card outer with a paper insert glued inside. The front of the invitation used a butterfly graphic, which was coloured purple to match the theme.

The title was a separate item, printed onto a white card, mounted onto a purple backing, and then adhered to the invitation to give a 3-dimensional effect. A gem was added to the centre of the flower because I wanted to add an extra element to the design.

The typography utilised a script font for headings alongside a sans serif one for the information.

Butterfly RSVP Design

The client required an RSVP and a No Gifts Poem/wishing well information to be designed to go with the invitations.

I decided to pick up the butterfly design and a couple of swirl graphics from the front of the invitation. These were printed onto white cards, and then had a purple backing board to the reverse, to tie in with the front of the invitation.

Butterfly Wedding Stationery Suite

The client required table names, place names, a menu and a seating chart to be designed.

I decided to use the design from the RSVP for these elements, keeping the whole suite looking like one group.

The wedding reception was held at the couple’s local village hall.
